Terms of Service

Last updated: November 2, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Mote remote desktop client (the "App") and the website mote.hyprlab.co (the "Site"), together the "Services," provided by Hyprlab ("we," "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

The software and its license

Mote is free and open-source software released under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later (AGPLv3). Your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the App are governed by that license. Where anything in these Terms conflicts with the AGPLv3 as it applies to the software itself, the AGPLv3 controls for the software.

Your responsibilities

  • You may connect only to computers, SSH servers, and RD Gateways you own or are authorized to use, and you are responsible for complying with the rules that apply to them.
  • You are responsible for the credentials you use with the App and for the data you exchange with remote computers, including what you copy, share, or record.
  • You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and not to misuse them or interfere with their operation.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and of the computers you access through the App.

Third-party software and services

Mote can use software from others, such as FFmpeg or Cisco's OpenH264, and connects to servers you choose. Their use is governed by their own licenses and terms. We are not responsible for third-party software or services, their availability, or their handling of your data. How Mote handles data is described in our Privacy Policy.

No warranty

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any data will not be lost. This section is consistent with the disclaimer of warranty in the AGPLv3.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Hyprlab or its contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Changes to the Services and these Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Services at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected here with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
